Since the previous post, we have been out and about on two trips, celebrated several birthdays, and had a week of BBQs and ‘Mocktails’. Members have been following the countries drawn in the sweep stake and we watched a full re-run of England’s fantastic win against Mexico!
Our first trip was to World of Country Life, in Exmouth-the members enjoyed a ride on the tractor, feeding the animals and, as an added bonus, the Birds of Prey demonstration was running.
The second trip, saw 34 members attending Millfield School’s Community Day. Again, a great time was had by all, enjoying a huge range of activities and a very tasty lunch!
Thanks must go to the Millfield School for another amazing day, and also to Exeter and District Mencap Society (EDMS), plus Royal Mencap’s Community Engagement Team, for covering the cost of transport for both trips.
Our week of BBQs saw Daryl, the centre manager, cooking various items on our new barbecue (thanks again to EDMS). We must also thank them for our new multi-use activity table and other items.
There have been many birthdays celebrated, keeping the bakers very busy in the kitchen! Other activities have included arts and crafts, gardening and the usual bingo!
Some members have left the centre for varying reasons, but we have welcomed a few new faces, some of which have renewed old friendships from their school days!
As I write this, a small group has travelled to Killerton House, for an activity day, so hopefully a report to come soon…
